On 6th October, Aumsai Sansthan Australia Celebrated DASARA 2013 and Shirdi Sai Punyathithi celebrations by AUMSAI held at Kingston City Hall in Moorabin. The event attracted a large audience of dignitaries, devotees and community members. The DASARA 2012 and Shirdi Sai Punyathithi event was held in association with Planet Insurance and Financial Planning and Supported by Victorian Multicultural Commission.
Impressive list of dignitaries who graced the occasion were representing Premier and Multicultural Minister Ms Elizabeth Miller, MP Bentleigh; Ms Inga Peulich MLC Member for South Metro Region, Parliamentary Secretary for Education; Mr Nirmal Chawdary Acting Indian Consul General; Mr Chin Tan, Chairperson VMC; Ms Lorraine Wreford, MP Mordialloc; Mayor Cr Ron Brownless OAM, City of Kingston; Mayor Cr Amanda Stapledon, City of Casey; Mayor Cr Jamie Hyams, Glen Eira City council; Mr Srini Chidambaram, Commissioner VMC; Cr Karina Okotel, Glen Eira City council; Cr Geoff Gledhill and Cr Paul Peulich of City of Kingston. Guests joined the spirit of festivities and shook a leg or two, much to the delight of those present.
All the guests were offered a traditional welcome- Purna Kumbham complete with the recitation of mantras, music from the nadaswaram instrument and vermillion on his forehead by the priest. AUMSAI team felicitated the entire guests with beautifully handcrafted shawls and mementos.

Mrs Aviti Sharma was the MC for the event. Melbourne’s best talent was on display with excellent performances by Chandana Galeti’s Ganesha dance followed by group dance by Akshara Yannam and team , Ramakrishna Patil played solo tabala, vocal by Mounika Nandiraju, Indian classical dances of Kuhipudi and Bharatnatyam by RACHANA NATYALAYA and NADANALAYA Indian Classical Dance Academy ;Patriotic songs were sung by Nawal Moudgil and his students, Ajax Band provided a lively orchestra and performances included Saffron Grove Singers Shriram Iyer and Bobby Beebob. Popular children’s fashion attracted everyone so did the medley of performances by various dancers. Highlight of the evening is the BHANGRA dance by Melbourne Bhangra Regiment and the Moon dance by Chinese group YA HUI dance group. Prizes were given to the winners of raffle tickets.
All the dignitaries graced the event was made possible by the great efforts of our Mr Rampal Reddy Muthyala, AUMSAI Treasurer and Life Time Trustee, owner of Aarya Supermarket and Member of South Metropolitan Regional Advisory Council, Victoria.
Festive Greetings were given by Ms Elizabeth Miller, Ms Inga Peulich, Ms Lorraine Wreford, Mr Chin Tan, Mr Ron Brownlees and Mr Nirmal Chawdary and offered their best wishes to all and appreciated the efforts of AUMSAI committee members, trustees and volunteers for organising the event.
Ms Inga Peulich and praised Indian culture and traditions and appreciated the efforts made by Indian Communities and offered wishes to all on behalf of the Parliamentarian members. Ms Elizabeth Miller in representative speech thanked AUMSAI for organising this multicultural event and supporting to strengthen our community and assisting in building a harmonious society. Mr Chin Tan Praised AUMSAI for leading the way in promoting unity, understanding and harmony among Melbourne’s diverse cultures.
Mr Ron Brownlees congratulated AUMSAI for this successful marvellous programme in city of Kingston, home for people from 52 different nationals. Ms Lorraine Wreford welcomed AUMSAI for having the temple at 76 Albert St, Mordialloc and strengthening the multicultural community.
Community service awards were presented to Mr Charles Harris and Dr Jagvinder Singh Virk for their invaluable and continuous support to community. Mr Anil Kolanukonda thanked the participants, sponsors said,” The success of this event was not possible without the kind support of all and welcomed all to visit the AUMSAI temple at 76 Albert St, Mordialloc. AUMSAI sansthan reached this far only by the kind support of all and requested on behalf of AUMSAI to continue the same support for future events”.
